PP Jagtar Singh Sethi, a Charter Member and Past President of Rotary Club Amritsar South and late IW Manmohan Kaur, a Charter Member of Innerwheel Club Amritsar South.

Upkar’s association with Rotary movement dates back to 1975 as charter vice-president of Rotaract Club Amritsar South. He completed his 10 years of Rotaract during which he served as District Rotaract Representative of the then Rotary District 309 in 1980-81. He joined his parent Rotary Club Amritsar South in 1985 and served as its President in 1998-99. He has served on various assignments in the last 20 years. He also led GSE team to USA in 2002-03. He has several International Conventions and International Conferences to his credit. His innovative initiatives were truly recognised when he was awarded as the Most Outstanding District Internet Communications Officer by RI President Frank Devlyn at the RI World Convention held at San Antonio, USA in 2001. The District Website developed by him was also adjudged as the Most Outstanding Website from Zone 5 (comprising parts of India, Pakistan, Burma & Nepal), which was again presented to him at the same Convention. Now he has been provided with an opportunity to lead the District 3070 as the District Governor in 2012-13.

In academics, after his Senior Cambridge, Upkar did his Graduation in Commerce and then he completed his MBA Degree with specialization in Finance and Systems from Punjabi University in 1981. He also then took the most challenging profession of development of Computer Software and Bulk Outsourced Data Processing as early as 1982 which was a pioneering effort not only in Punjab but the entire northwest region. He also qualified as Chartered Accountant in 1982 and since then he is in professional practice as a senior partner in M/s URS & Associates.

He is married to Neeru Sethi, who has also served as President of Innerwheel Club Amritsar South. The family is a strong believer of traditional values of Joint Family system and the family is only complete with his younger brother Jasjit who has also served as District Interact Representative of the then Rotary District 309 in 1979-80 and his wife Gagna. The family is blessed with a daughter – Giggle, a software engineer working in a multinational software company and married in Bangalore, son Simar a mechanical engineer working in a automobile company in Dehradun and sons – Harman and Jasman who are still studying. He is a teetotaller, and loves reading & writing.
